Tales of the Guitar Heroes

Tales of the Guitar Heroes is a compilation of covers I've made in recent years. Most of them are songs that I've discovered through playing Clone Hero, and were never made available elsewhere besides charting them for Clone Hero.

Originals

Matte Black [Commodore Plus/4, 200Hz] (August 2023)

Submitted for TED Vibes 2, inspired by Matt Gray

Ape in a Toy Box [Amiga 4-channel MOD] (December 2022)

Submitted for BotB Advent Calendar 2022, first sample-based format I've used, inspired by Donkey Kong Country

Adapt or Die [NES (no Pulse 2)] (December 2022)

Submitted for BotB Advent Calendar 2022, experiment with making the most out of the single pulse and triangle channels

Winter Warriors of the Past [ZX Spectrum beeper, Special FX] (December 2022)

Submitted for BotB Advent Calendar 2022, metal-inspired tune on a simple 2-channel beeper engine

Sega's Dream Land [Sega Master System] (December 2022)

Submitted for BotB Advent Calendar 2022, vaguely inspired by Kirby's Dream Land

A Titan Emerges [Commodore Plus/4, 400Hz] (June 2022)

Submitted for Summer Chip XII, making use of 8xFramespeed in TEDzakker

This Game Ain't For Babies [VIC-20, Baby-K] (April 2022)

Submitted for Spring Tracks XI, trying to write anything decent with Baby-K was a challenge

Tinker's Mind [fSound] (February 2022)

Submitted for Winter Chip XVII, PC Beeper-like MML program that is an absolute pain to work with

Fool Around [Sega Master System] (January 2022)

Submitted for Winter Chip XVII, a test of sound design for the Sega Master System

Winterfreude [Klangfreude] (December 2021)

Submitted for BotB Advent Calendar 2021, 8-channel tracker that only produces sinewaves, uses multiple channels for additive synthesis

More Than Business [Commodore Plus/4] (November 2021)

Submitted for Commodore Quadrilogy, abusing the poor soundchip even more

The Restless Mansion Owner [NES + VRC7] (October 2021)

Submitted for Spoopy V, inspired by Ghosts n' Goblins on C64

Super Star TED [Commodore Plus/4] (September 2021)

Submitted for Commodore Plus/4, first original song I ever submitted, somehow I went absolutely nuts with this soundchip

Space Waltz [Commodore Plus/4] (September 2021)

First original song I ever wrote to test out TEDzakker, inspired by Space Zone Level 1 in Super Mario Land 2

Covers

At the Speed of Snow (Tobikomi) [NES + MMC5 + S5B] (June 2025)

Covering one of my favorite Plus/4 tunes, making it even radder

Something Comforting (Porter Robinson) [GB + Bitspeek] (February 2025)

Experiment with using Bitspeek for vocals

Momma Zoe's Marxist Bondage Cult (FADE) [NES + MMC5 + S5B] (April 2024)

I know how strange that title is, but it is a banger

Blitz (Digitalizer) [NES + MMC5] (November 2023)

Song I fondly remember from the YTPMV era, uses 1/4 and 3/4 pulse widths together to make a sort of low-pass effect

The Heaviest Matter of the Universe (Gojira) [NES] (September 2022)

For CSC's Extreme Metal 3 pack, I wanted to chart the original, but I found out someone else already did it

Tempest (Defecto) [NES + 5B] (July 2022)

First usage of the Sunsoft 5B chip, helped shape the metal-inspired sound that I use to this day

Viking Kong (Racer X) [NES] (October 2021)

Covering one of my favorite songs from CSC's Hard Songs 2 pack

Perpetual Motion (Sound Struggle) [NES] (June 2021)

First cover I made using Famistudio, also featured in Bitcrusher

There were MANY covers I made using Famitracker and Sneventracker, but I'm only uploading a select few that I comfortable showing off.

The Gallery (Muse) [NES] (September 2019)

Door into Summer (Knuckles' Chaotix) [Sega Master System] (June 2017)

Probably my proudest cover I made in that era, and I never even released it lol
